OUR STORY

Harford Sound LLC, was founded in 2004 by President & Chief Executive Officer Evan Kirkendall in his parent’s basement. At age 15, he was hooking up his dad’s band PA system in the basement and playing music as loud as it would go. Learning the basics and how to make sound come out by trial and error, he landed his first gig in spring 2004- his high school’s talent show. Wheeling his dad’s gear from the 80’s in and his fresh out of the box Mackie console, he was ready to make the show rock. Underpowered, and under-equipped, the show was a success and Kirkendall was hooked.

Harford Sound began advertising services on local band forums and was quickly drawn into the church hall & basement pop punk scene. With the simple philosophy of providing the best available equipment and service possible to every single client regardless of the event type, Harford Sound would quickly establish themselves as the best value small production company in town.

This level of service lead to rapid growth and new opportunities for both Harford Sound, and Kirkendall. In late 2007, Kirkendall took to the road with (at the time) local band “All Time Low” as their touring FOH engineer. Using the same approach as with Harford Sound, Kirkendall strived for audio excellence at every single concert. For the next 6 years, both the band and Kirkendall would continue their paths to success.

On the local front, Harford Sound continued it’s growth. With Kirkendall on the road, the company relied on skilled local techs with the same values to keep the company rolling. The company’s success became difficult to manage from the road, often in other time zones. In late 2013, Kirkendall finally decided to get off the road and put his full focus back on Harford Sound.

Since his return, the company has continued to grow exponentially each year. Kirkendall has taken the time to build a diverse team with decades of experience in all aspects of the production industry. The team at Harford Sound consistently raises the bar and exceeds their client’s expectations at every event they help produce. You won’t find another group of people like the ones at Harford Sound.
